Commissions

An original commissioned painting can make a perfect unique gift for a loved one. It can mark an engagement, wedding, special birthday or colleague milestone, mothers and fathers days. I have been asked to paint portraits as well as special locations, please see a selection of previous commissions below.

THE PROCESS:

​

If you contact me to discuss a possible commission, there is absolutely no obligation to go ahead. We will have an initial chat about what kind of thing you are after, this can be as specific as you like. I can always help with the generation of ideas if you aren't quite sure. If you decide you would like to go ahead, a 50% deposit is required to secure your place and cover the cost of materials.

From our discussions, I will produce some preparatory studies. Depending on your requirements, this will usually consist of sketches to confirm content and composition, along with colour studies and style. I will come back to you to ensure you are happy with how your piece will look, and you can let me know any changes you may want. When you’re happy, I will get to work creating your original piece.

I will keep you updated with photos to ensure you’re involved in the creative process. You'll have several opportunities to make changes to ensure you have a painting you really love. The balance of payment is due when the painting is complete, and then we can organise getting it shipped to its new home.

Cost of Postage is not included in the cost of the painting.

TIMELINE:

Depending on the size of your painting, and my commission diary, time to complete your artwork can vary. Ordinarily I would suggest a timeline of around 4 weeks, but in busy periods (Christmas, valentines, wedding season) that could go up to around 3 months, so please allow plenty of time if you intend to commission original artwork as a gift. If you need a rush job, please contact me and I can see what I can do, it may incur an extra charge.

MATERIALS:

​

I primarily paint with acrylics on canvas, although can work in watercolour or acrylic inks if you would prefer. I can accommodate any canvas shape or size, but to give an idea of price for your chosen size, please see below.
